// Walk to the beat

I never leave the house without music on my ears. Within the short time of 3 years I already manged to ruin a pair of BOSE headphones. RIP precious one. I have Shazam and Soundhound on the start screen on my phone and quickly feel uneasy when I hear the robotic voice in minor telling me  b-a-t-t-e-r-y  l-o-w  when there is no electric socket in sight. The day before

30 degrees above zero + downpours and 90% humidity = Berlin Fashion Week

The last week in Berlin has been “crazy” in many respects – the incredible 7:1 victory of the German team over Brazil during the Soccer World Cup not even taken into account. With Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week going on, the streets were not only flooded by the recurring rain but a colourful crowd of editors, models, designers, photographers, bloggers and buyers. After  a few very stressful days with consequential exciting changes for the near future, my plan for the weekend was to CHILL. Reading a good book, making an appointment at my very own home spa including mani and pedi, decorating the place with fresh flowers and finally a bit spring cleaning in my wardrobe. Next week’s forecast says 28 degree Celsius (although it’s raining cats and dogs right now), that means shorts, summer dresses and sandals. I am so ready for it! And while I was browsing the web for summery fashion and style inspiration, I found a few links I’d like to share. Enjoy! Read the rest of this entry »

// Song of the day

This is oh so smooth and the perfect song for a Sunday like today. Yet, still kinda strange knowing that this is the 19-year-old son of a guy who used to rock my world (musically) when I was a school girl –  but, I guess “It’s like that and that’s the way it is, huh!”

// Spring clean

Spring in Purple

Spring time! Holiday time. Well, it used to be… Every year around April or May wanderlust grows on me and I go on vacation. I leave the winter and the city behind and put my mind at ease in a secret whereabout. This year due to an unfortunate mixture of coincidences my planned Thailand detox week did not take place. So, I decided to send my apartment on a detox tour and started a big spring cleaning.

I spent a lot of time on flea markets to find little vases and lamps, nice china and crystal glasses. Not to forget the IKEA and hardware store craziness I underwent. The most fun besides seeing my vision step by step come true are the inspiration I got by reading my daily dose of blogs. My Pinterest board is bursting and not enough space in my flat to turn all the nice ideas into reality.

What the result will look like, I am about to show you soon in another post. For now, here is what inspired me last week. And isn’t coming home to a beautiful place, when the sun is shining through your window right on the flowers you got fresh from the market a nice little city detox, too?

Enjoy your Easter holidays!

I am stressed! It feels like being 16 again, waiting next to your phone for that one call, that will change your life. At least that’s what you naively thought it would. Until you realized just a few weeks later that he was a jerk after all, not worth the wait. Except this time it’s not about a boy and that very call or email will definitely change a whole lot in my life. What makes the waiting even more fun are friends asking about the state of play. C’mon, you should know me, as soon as I have news, I will call every news channel in the world, set up a press conference and have Jimmy Fallon invite me to talk about it in a lip flip performance. My love for Banks started last year with her song Warm Water produced by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. She released two EPs since then building up my addiction for her music. Her new release Brain is the icing on the cake. I hope she will soon announce when her first full album, she is working on right now, will be out.  If I were asked to describe her music, I’d say a bit of Erykah Badu and Jessie Ware mixed with almost industrial sounding parts. A female Frank Ocean (hope you get the gist).

BTW: she is featured on one of the covers of V Magazine’s music issue

Milan Fashion Week via Tommy Ton

Veronika Heilbrunner at Milan Fashion Week

So long, black Nike Free and Roshe Runs. White is the colour of spring season especially when it comes to my favourite shoes – sneakers. And with the hype around the adidas Stan Smith already turning into a random noise, the fashion crowd, with my personal style icon Veronika Heilbrunner leading the way, is going all in for another iconic sneaker in ultra white.

Watching street style pictures of the latest fashion weeks in Paris, London, Milan and NYC, there seems to be a revival of the good old Air Force 1. Not, that it had ever been out of style, but fashion community just (re)discovered the rather chunky icon, declaring the high top version to be the sneaker of the season. Given of course, that the pair is white and brand new. Have a look.

PS: Seems as VH is rocking fashion week in all cities with just one pair of Air Force 1, yet her looks are so distinctive!
